Teaching procedures:

. Warming up

T: What do you think you need to pay attention to in job interview?

S:

T: Teacher can comment students’ ideas using encouraging language for example “good idea”, “I accept your advice” “you are considerate.” “Your advice is helpful”

 “Very good” and so on.

T: Now let’s look at the advice for job interview. It will helpful for you to get the job you want.

Students work individually reading the advice and figuring out the meaning of the phrasal verbs. (What do you think the words underlined mean? Is it right to do so? Tell us your reason.)

Do the exercise 2.

Now we will read an article about Mandy’s experience in job interview.

Encourage students to read through the whole text to get a general idea.

Students do the exercise individually and then compare answers in pairs

Do you think Mandy got the job? Why or why not? Could you give him some advice?

Teachers’ advice: When you answer questions in a job interview, please remember the golden rule: Always give the monkey exactly what he wants.

What on earth should you do? Now listen to a dialogue

Do the exercise 3

Students listen to the dialogue twice and check answers as a class.

Do the exercise 4

Listen to the dialogue again if students have difficulty in doing the exercise, listen to the cassette again.

Let student’s discussion the problem: Do you think Oliver got the job? Why or why not?

In a job interview when you don’t catch what he says what should you say? How do you show you are polite?

Ask students to express their own ideas.

Listen to people asking the interview to repeat or explain something. Judge which of them are polite and which are not? The purpose is to train students listening and speaking ability.

Listen to the radio documentary about salaries in four European countries. Do the exercise.
