2. Listening and talking
Students will give all kinds of answers, the teacher can say “I think you must want to know the answers, now let’s listen to the tape, and see whether your guess is right.”
In order to practise listening and talking you can ask the following question
1. Why did the Net begin by the military?
The Pentagon were worried about communication after a nuclear war. In 1969 they thought of linking computers into a network so that if one part of the network was destroyed , other parts could continue working.
2. What do people use the network to do?
People use the network to share ideas .They use it for entertainment, e-mail, playing games and getting information.
Just now we discuss what we use the Internet to do, if we want to learn these things, Which ‘website’ can you visit to do these things?

3. Ask and answer
Ask students to tell you the reason why you choose the answers.
With the development of technology, we often use telephone. Do you know how to communicate in telephone? How different it is from our country?

4. Listening
Listen to a telephone conversation between two people in Brighton . Which thing from the Internet page do they decide to do?
Listening Strategies: Important words
• Listen for words that are stressed. They are important words.
• Do not worry if you do not hear all the other words.
5. Exercise
Do the exercise 7
Students listen to the seven sentences on the cassette. Pause after each sentence for students to identify the stressed words.
Then play the cassette for students to repeat the sentences.

Turn to page 56 to do the exercise
1.教材案例分析
本课是第四单元的第二课,是一节听力技能课。本课的话题是Website,与第一课有一定的联系。加之电脑及网络是目前中学生经常接触,也非常感兴趣的话题,因此本课也可以从讨论网络的用途入手,激活学生的背景知识,同时引导学生预测电脑和网络的发展的历史。这样做既有利于新旧知识的前呼后应,也有利于话题的扩展和延伸。本课还应该通过激活学生使用中文网站的背景知识,引导学生浏览英文网站,并学会在英文网站上查找所需信息。
本课时听力技能课,教师要指导学生运用听力策略提取信息:预测大意、抓住关键词、理解细节。同事要引导学生关注打电话、提建议的功能用于,发展学生的语言交际能力。
本课的词汇教学可以在听力中通过上下文或构词法来猜测词义。理解大意后,要引导学生关注听力材料中的词语搭配和短语动词,培养学生在语境中猜词的能力和关注词语搭配的意思。
2. 教材重组
本课重点是要让学生听懂提取、处理有关于因特网发展中的主要信息。并学会在英文网站中找到所需信息。将Website中的listening和Vocabulary,整合在一起上一节“听力技能课”。
