Lesson 3   The Sea World  

Teaching Aims:  

 

2.To practice using sea animal vocabulary.  

3.To practice using comparative and superlative structures.

Teaching procedures:  

. Warming up:  

T: Water covers the most of the earth surface. In it swim billions of fish from over 25,000 species. These fish can be tiny or huge. They can be round, box-like or long and slim. Some look like leaves or rocks. They have all kinds of shapes and colors. Ocean is their home. They freely lived there for millions of years. Now let’s see a short film, you will see some fish you know then tell me what you can see in it.  

S:  

T: Ok. Let’s read an article whose title is Penrhyn Undersea World. Penrhyn is a Welsh name. Aquariums are growing in particularity in   Britain  . As well as offering spectacular exhibits, like sharks, they offer “Hands-on” exhibits for children first tell me: Which of these animals you can see in the pictures?  

.   Reading    

Read the brochure. Find where you can see these things in Underwater World:  

1.      fish which use a light to attract food  

2.      dolphins in performance  

3.      fish that appear to fly in the water    

4.      sea creatures that children can touch  

5.      a big iceberg  

. Speaking  

Task 1. Practise students’ spoken English. Ask students to read the brochure aloud,  

describe the animals and fish without looking at books.  

Task 2. match these comments from visitors to the different areas of the aquarium.  

Task 3. Which part of undersea world would you like to visit? Why?  

You can use the following sentences structures such as  

1.      would rather … than  

2.      prefer … to …  

3.      better … than …  

4.      the most …  

5.      less … than …

Task 1. Vocabulary: Find the words in the text that match the following sentences.  

Task 2. Language points: every; watch; watch out.  

Task3. Grammar: practice using comparative and superlative structures.

Task1.The teacher describe an animals to students using comparatives, then ask students to guess what the animals is. then ask students to do so  

Homework  

 Grammar practice:  

7. Write the adjectives in he correct form.  

8. Write sentences comparing the pictures. Use these adjectives.  

9. Complete the text with the correct form of he words in brackets.
